Rockport
Massachusetts, on the tip of Cape Ann, is accessible by car via
only two bridges, one of which is the Andrew Piatt Bridge on Rt.
128. Rockport is also accessible via the Boston-Rockport branch
of the MBTA commuter rail system which runs 365 days a year.
From points North (Maine/NH):
Take I95 South to Rt. 133 East. Then take Rt. 128 North to
Gloucester. After the two Gloucester rotaries (staying on Rt.
128) take a left at the traffic light onto Rt. 127 heading to
Rockport. Go about 3 miles. Entering downtown Rockport, there is
a 5 way intersection. Bear slightly right onto Broadway/Rt.
127A. At the foot of Broadway, take a right onto Rt. 127A and
the Blacksmith Shop Restaurant is on your immediate left.
From Boston and points West and South.
Take I95 North (Or Rt. 1 North) until it turns into Rt. 128
North in Peabody. Follow
Rt. 128 North to Gloucester, about 20 miles. After the two
Gloucester rotaries (staying on Rt. 128) take a left at the
traffic light onto Rt. 127 heading to Rockport. Go about 3
miles. Entering downtown Rockport, there is a 5 way
intersection. Bear slightly right onto Broadway/Rt. 127A. At the
foot of Broadway, take a right onto Rt. 127A and the Blacksmith
Shop Restaurant is on your immediate left.
Arriving by boat: While the Blacksmith
Shop Restaurant is located over Rockport Harbor, there are no
docks "on-site". However, if you contact the Rockport Harbor
Master on VHF-Ch.9 or call ahead at 978-546-9589, they may be
able to accomodate you for a stay tied up at one of the several
wharves in town for a few hours or over night. |
